Why are international flight attendants said to benefit from EZPerDiem more than other flight crewmembers?
Most flight crewmembers who itemize their taxes benefit significantly. Pilots and flight attendants at regional airlines, major airlines, fractionals, corporate companies, and more should see a significant increase in their tax refund or a reduced tax liablity by taking advantage of the employee tax deductions available to flight crewmembers if the itemize.
But if you are a flight attendant that flies primarily international trips, the benefit is often huge. This is because international flight attendants layover mostly in cities with high per diem rates, they fly trips that span 3 or 4 days, and their incomes falls into a range where it is not generally overly-penalized by reductions like the AMT or 2% Limits.
Everything seems to have worked okay. It almost seems too good to be true! I came out with $8,200 or so and per diem reimbursed of about $5,800, so I guess the difference is $2,400. That should save me about $450 or $500. Gotta love that!
