No.  Here's why.

To calculate the M&IE expenses without the help of a service like EZPerDiem takes a long time.  If you had a lot of flying in the year, to manually look up all of the per diem rates, then calculated them using the city-by-city method, would take most of the day.  Then, to follow it up by using the special rate for transportation workers would take some more time.

If a tax preparer spent the time to do all this at $50 per hour, it would cost you about $500 just to do it.  It just doesn't happen.

What does happen instead is a much less lucrative version of this calculation.  Typically, they do run the special rate for transportation workers and move on to the rest of your taxes, neglecting the typically much more lucrative city-by-city deduction.

Think about this.  Assume the tax preparer spends about 1 hour just doing the flight crew portion of your taxes and they charge $50 per hour.  You just spent $50 for a very substandard service that could have be handled cheaper and more accurately by EZPerDiem, and would have likely given you a significantly higher deduction, and thus a reduced tax liability.

Don't trust your local tax preparer to do the flight crew portion of your taxes correctly.  There are no exceptions to this!
